01 / The shift

Something shifted in 2012. We know how to shift it back.

2012

When smartphones passed half the population, in-person time with friends, sleep, exercise, self-esteem, and well-being all began to fall. At the same time, anxiety, depression, and loneliness climbed sharply, in some cases quadrupling between 2012 and 2019.

The hopeful part: happiness is a set of skills and habits, and skills can be taught. We make that teaching joyful, so it actually lasts.
